Serfas Woven Tape

Serfas just recently released a new cloth tape line called Woven Tape. I brought them into the shop to check out, as well as wrapped the flat bars on my single speed commuter with it. So far so good! If you’re like me and hate extra padding or really thick tape, you’ll like this tape. I would liken the thickness to Deda tape. It definitely has a slight amount of cushion, but not much. So, it is a little thicker than Newbaums, but all-in-all a similar experience. If you’re looking to try it out, but need extra cushion, you could, of course, add bar fat underneath it, or wraps a layer of Newbaums on your bars before wrapping the Woven Tape. They come in a ton of colors and designs that are very on trend, as much as I hate to use the term “on trend.” Great, now I feel gross. Let’s see how long they hold up and how they feel when riding with sweaty palms, which is a big deal for me. Apparently I have sweatier palms than the normal person. In middle school gym during square dancing classes — don’t ask — I was often picked last or not picked at all as a dance partner. The reason, at least according to one girl and schoolmate, was that my hands were sweaty… But maybe my general awkward demeanor was the reason. ANYWAY, fast forward 20 years.  I hate wearing gloves. So if they are not slippery when temps heat up, I am sold! Check it them out HERE! Go to you LBS to pick some up. Oak City Cycling in Raleigh just got some…
